It’s Show Time!!!

Show time is less than a week away. Where does the time go? This year’s packaging show is in Las Vegas. When I tell friends and family where I am going, they talk about “getting to go to Vegas” and what a nice treat. I remember those days

I was just issued my booth schedule, exhibitor badge and company show attire. I started my usual mental checklist of items that will need to be packed…lanyard (being a girl who likes jewelry – I prefer my own versus the “logo” one issued), plenty of business cards and lots of shoes! For those of you who have worked trade shows, you understand the need for multiple pairs. For those of you who have never had the opportunity, you wear one pair to and from the exhibitor hall (this is typically sneakers), one pair to match your outfit and a third pair you will change into after about 5 hours lol.

I go into these shows looking forward to meeting new prospective customers, distributors and reconnecting with existing ones. When I come home, I reflect on what a fantastic industry I work in and how many great people are in the packaging industry. When first introduced into packaging, I thought it was a huge industry. After having been in the industry for several years, I now realize it truly is a small family business. People may change companies but, they stay in packaging.

Is Packaging Going Viral???

Girls in Packaging???

It can be tough for a girl when trying to succeed in a “man’s world”. I should know, I live it every day. With that being said, I wouldn’t change a thing. I have learned so much about myself as well as others. My career has allowed me to embrace new opportunities and challenges that I otherwise would have shied from.

I am a believer that us girls do need to stick together. We need to support one another and embrace the challenges we face together.

It has been proven and books written on the subject, we are different from men (outside of all the obvious). We process and internalize things differently.

Why not reach out to one another and share ideas so we all can win together???
